Aparecido wins PBR’s Kansas City Clash presented by Foley Equipment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Before a record-breaking weekend crowd of more than 15,000 fans at Sprint Center, Eduardo Aparecido claimed his first victory of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) 2016 Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS), by winning the Built Ford Tough Kansas City Clash presented by Foley Equipment and brought to you locally by Sonic.

Aparecido was one of just two riders who went into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round on Sunday perfect for the weekend with scores on two bulls. He was the event leader after riding Glory Days (Plummer/Hart Cattle Co.) for 85.5 points in Round 1 for a third-place finish and Big Benny (Curtis Mendell) for 85 points in Round 2 for a sixth-place tie. With his score of 89 points on Texicali (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owen) in the championship round, Aparecido took the lead in the aggregate to secure the win. He earned a total of 520 points toward the PBR world standings with the victory. Watch Aparecido’s winning ride on Texicali here.

The 2015 PBR Rookie of the Year Kaique Pacheco picked up 100 points in Round 1, and 30 points in the championship round to finish in second place overall. Pacheco’s 86.25-point championship round-effort atop Crystal Can Do (D&H Cattle Co.) helped him earn a total of 370 world standings points on the weekend.

Lachlan Richardson covered both of his bulls Sunday, placing third overall with rides of 86.5 on Moto Moto (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owens) in Round 2 and 89.5 points on Pound The Alarm (J.A.R.S. Bucking Bulls/Gene Owens), the highest-marked score of the event, in the championship round. The Australian picked up 320 world standings points. Joao Ricardo Vieira collected 155 points toward the world standings with his fourth-place finish, while two-time and reigning PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney extended his lead in the PBR world standings when he tied with Round 2-winner Rubens Barbosa for fifth-place overall in the event. Each earned 145 points toward their world standings totals. Stormy Wing took seventh place for 80 world standings points. Mauney ended the weekend 227.5 points ahead of No. 2 Paulo Lima in the world standings.

Sweet Pro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.) and Pearl Harbor (Boyd Floyd/Bar D Cattle Co.) tied for the Salem NationaLease High-Marked Bull award in Kansas City with their 46-point scores from Saturday night in the 15/15 Bucking Battle. It’s the third time this season Bruiser, the 2015 ABBI Classic Champion, has earned top bull honors and the first time for Pearl Harbor.

Kansas City was the seventh of 26 stops on the 2016 BFTS. The tour will head to Texas next weekend, stopping in Arlington on Feb. 27 for the Choctaw Casino Iron Cowboy, powered by Kawasaki at AT&T Stadium. As a PBR Major, the Iron Cowboy will present a special format, offer increased PBR world standings points and prize money, and air on CBS Television Network. It represents the PBR’s seventh consecutive year visiting the home of the Dallas Cowboys and the only BFTS stop in Texas this season.

CBS Sports Network will kick off the weekend broadcasts with a preshow, Inside the PBR Majors presented by B&W Trailer Hitches at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 27. The preshow will be followed by the first rounds of the Iron Cowboy at 9:30 p.m. ET. The finals and championship round will air on CBS Sports on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

The Choctaw Casino Iron Cowboy powered by Kawasaki kicks off the richest weekend in Western sports. It is followed on Sunday, Feb. 28, by THE AMERICAN, the world’s richest one-day rodeo, which will showcase some of the most-talented, toughest, grittiest rodeo athletes Dallas has ever seen.

The BFTS is televised every week on CBS, CBS Sports Network and networks around the world. BFTS telecasts are produced for the PBR under a multi-year agreement with David Neal Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company led by 34-time Emmy® Award winner and Peabody Award winner David Neal, who serves as executive producer.
