Oliveira Leads Killer Bees Sweep in Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Four of the top-five finishers in the Professional Bull Riders LiftMaster Chute Out, part of the 2014 Built Ford Tough Series, were bull riders from Brazil making a comeback to a familiar place – finishing at the top.

A record-breaking crowd of 28,776 at the Honda Center watched as three of the men went 4-for-4 on the weekend. Valdiron de Oliveira led the way by earning the event win with 351.75 points and was followed by Emilio Resende (344.50) and Claudio Crisostomo (329.75), who finished in second and third place, respectively.

“It feels good to win,” said Oliveira. “I was shocked, but I am very glad.”

Oliveira sealed the victory in the championship round on Sunday at the Honda Center with an event-best 90.75-point ride on C Note (Jeff Robinson/ Triple C Bucking Bulls).

Behind fourth-place finisher L.J. Jenkins (253.50) was Round 1 and Round 2 winner Guilherme Marchi. Marchi ended the LiftMaster Chute Out with a total score of 177.50 points, but it was enough for fifth place and a move to No. 1 in the PBR world standings. Marchi is now 83.25 points ahead of former No. 1 Mike Lee.

BIG TEX “ROCKS” of Jeff Robinson/Bar 3D Bucking Bulls was named the Salem National Lease High-Marked Bull of the Event with 46 points after bucking off Kasey Hayes in 2.22 seconds in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round.

Next week the BFTS travels to the Midwest, stopping in St. Louis at Scottrade Center for the BFTS in St. Louis, presented by Cooper Tires, Feb. 14-16.

Anaheim was the sixth stop of 27 on the 2014 PBR Built Ford Tough Series. The tour kicked off at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 3-5 and culminates with the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 22-26 when the overall total points leader will be crowned the PBR World Champion, presented the coveted championship belt buckle and awarded a $1 million bonus.
