 Spencer Wright, the youngest of the seven Wright brothers from Milford, Utah, upon being asked by the Deseret News how his family might have reacted if he decided to become a ballet dancer instead of a saddle bronc rider like all of his brothers. (The answer was reportedly delivered with a sizeable grin).

The original air dates of California Rodeo Salinas and Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days have been swapped on the Pursuit Channel (DISH Network 240, DirecTV 608). Cheyenne will debut Aug. 13 and air again on Oct. 1 while Salinas will be broadcast Aug. 20 at 9 p.m. (ET) and re-shown on Sept. 24 ...

The Ram California Circuit Finals will be moving back to California after a one-year hiatus in Las Vegas. The dates are set for Oct. 14-16 at the Antelope Valley Arena in Lancaster, Calif. It will be run by the California Circuit Board in conjunction with the committee that operates The Showdown there each July, including new Circuit President Johnny Zamrzla ...

Tilden Hooper, engaged all season in a three-way battle for the bareback riding lead with Will Lowe and Kaycee Feild, sat out this busy 35-rodeo weekend with a pinched nerve in his neck. He hopes to return at this week’s Lea County Fair & Rodeo in Lovington, N.M., a Wrangler Million Dollar Tour Silver event ...

Clown and barrelman Clint Selvester injured his left foot while in Santa Barbara, Calif., for the Old Spanish Days Stock Horse Show and Rodeo, but that didn’t keep him from his appointed rounds. He worked in the arena through to the Aug. 7 finish on crutches ...

 The California Farm Bureau will honor ProRodeo Hall of Famer Cotton Rosser with the first-ever California Bountiful Foundation Public Outreach Award at its inaugural California Bountiful Gala Sept. 30. The new California Bountiful Foundation was created to support agricultural research, education and public outreach for the advancement and preservation of all farmers and ranchers. Rosser is being recognized for his lifetime contributions and innovative, effective approach to public outreach and education on behalf of the entire farming and ranching community. The California Bountiful Gala will be held at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, and will feature special guest and cowboy poet and humorist Baxter Black. Two-time and reigning Saddle Bronc Riding World Champion Cody Wright broke his younger brother Jesse’s one-year-old Home on the Range Arena record by a single point Aug. 6 when he won the Champions Ride in Sentinel Butte, S.D., with a 93-point score on Lunatic Party ...

The Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in Fort Worth has altered its selection process to allow any dues-paying member in good standing the right to vote on that year’s slate of Hall of Fame nominees ...

The third annual Chicks N Chaps women-only rodeo clinic, staged as part of the Big Sky ProRodeo Round-Up in Great Falls, Mont., Aug. 4, sold out and is expected to raise more than $10,000 to assist breast cancer patients.
