The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is pleased to announce that it has named Scott Forthmann as its Director of Contingency.
Forthmann’s impressive racing background includes a long career in the NHRA, where he served as the NHRA Director of Contingency Programs from 1999 through 2004.
Forthmann will bring that wealth of experience to the world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league and he is thrilled for the opportunity to have a major impact in the ADRL.

Forthmann attended his first drag race when he was nine years old and he has been involved in the sport nearly every day since then.
He began working with the NHRA in 1978 as a member of the trackside Safety Safari team, becoming the NHRA Event Services Department manager in 1983.
Forthmann stayed in that position for 16 years, developing strong relationships with NHRA sponsors as he managed the manufacturers midway.
In 1999, the Colorado native took over as the Director of Contingency Programs in the NHRA, becoming responsible all aspects of the contingency and manufacturers midway programs.
Since 2004, Forthmann has worked as the event manager for Fram and Suzuki for displays at NHRA, IHRA and Nascar events, and the midway display manager for Speedco Lube and Tire Centers.
Currently, Forthmann is the co-owner of Piracy Apparel, produces of the Nitropirate t-shirt brand.
Now, in his new position with the ADRL, Forthmann will have an ample opportunity to create new partnerships with sponsors.

This is an ideal position to utilize his talents which have been repeatedly proven in the drag racing industry, and we look forward to seeing our contingency program continue to grow,” ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said.
The ADRL’s sixth stop on the nine-race 2011 Tour takes place on Aug. 12-13 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Va. with the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV.
