Brian Curtis Hospitalized

CBR rider Brian Curtis was severely injured at a PRCA Rodeo in Cedar City, Utah on Saturday evening. After being taken to the local hospital, Brian was airlifted to Las Vegas where he has since undergone surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain, says his wife, Stephanie.
Brian’s nose, cheekbones and eye sockets are also broken and Stephanie hopes the doctors will be able to repair those within the next week. “He’s doing better than the doctors would have expected but they’re keeping him sedated for now,” she says.

Stephanie was with Brian and their four-month-old daughter, Oaklee, at the time of the accident. When they airlifted Brian she was unable to fly with him to Las Vegas. Fortunately, fellow CBR rider Clayton Foltyn was at the rodeo that night and was able to give Stephanie and Oaklee some much-needed support.

“Clayton was up that night and came out in the arena when Brian got hurt. He showed up at the hospital and then he drove Oaklee and I here to Vegas. I wouldn’t have been able to make it here without him,” Stephanie says. Clayton and his fiancĂ©, Kala, remained at the hospital until Tuesday. “They’ve been here the whole time. I kept telling them to leave but they wouldn’t until somebody else got here to stay with me,” she says.

Although the doctors haven’t given Stephanie an exact timeline for Brian’s road to recover, they suspect it will be quite a while before he can return to earning a living riding bulls. Two accounts have been set up for those wishing to help the family
